In the first tutorial session for this group assignment, we decided to choose on representations in films but had not yet narrowed it down to a specific topic. Thus, we each sourced for any prominent aspect regarding representations in films that we find interesting. In that week, I found these 5 sources most interesting:

Summary: This article touches on African-Americans being stereotyped negatively in films. The author also mentions on how this ethnic minority group is being underrepresented both in the film and in the production process, which could be reasons on why there is such stereotyping. He also questions what kind of impact this might have on the audience, especially children who might look at characters in films as role models.
Question: Is it feasible to produce/present a film text that is free of stereotypes in the first place?
